Cordilleras and the Rice Terraces of Banaue

Cordilleras

The Cordilleras are the amazing Mountains in the North of Luzon. You can visit here the famous Rice Terraces in Banaue, the hanging Coffins of Sagada or the weekend trip City for the people of Manila, Baguio! But the most impressive for us Motorcycle Drivers are for sure the wonderful Roads through the rough and wild Mountains. Amazing roads, mostly in a good condition with not much traffic, sceneries which take away your breath and sometimes if you want to even off road, all that awaits you in the Cordilleras.

To Baguio and Banaue

If you start from Angeles to the north direction to the Mountains, we recommend to first take the Express Way up to Rosario (if you have a 400cc plus Bike only). There is not much interesting on the way, only hugh traffic in Tarlac!

First amazing point is the Kennon Road to Baguio. Build in 1905, its beautiful to drive there! But don’t go there during holy week (the week before easter). It will be totally crowded with people from Manila going there for a short holiday. In Baguio you can find some nice hotels and diverse touristic possibilities!

From Baguio to the Rice Terraces of Banaue you can take another famous Road, the Halsema Road! You will love it, its driving in the Mountains at its best! Amazing Roads and stunning Views all along the way! Motorcycling at its Best!

Rice Terraces of Banaue and Hanging Coffins of Sagada

The famous Rice Terraces of Banaue are always worth a Trip! Centuries old Rice Terraces build in the Mountains! You should stay there some Nights and take your time to explore the Area! Also the surrounding Areas are full of amazing Roads and beautiful Rice Terraces. After Banaue you should go to Sagada, the Village with the famous Hanging Coffins in the middle of the Mountains. Also there you should stay minimum 2 Nights to explore the Hanging Coffins and the surrounding mountain Area! For both villages, don’t plan your visit during Holy Week or before Christmas, it will be crowdy then!

Bessang Pass

A highlight for every Motorcycle Driver is the Bessang Pass, the road from Cervantes down to the Sea in West Luzon! Here was still a battle taking place in June 1945 between the Japanese and US troops. Nowadays its an amazing mountain Pass on a good road with nearly no traffic! But take care, beside the road its going down for hundreds of meters!

From here you can decide either to stay a while at the sea, in San Juan is a surfer hotspot with nice beaches and Hotels, before you return to Angeles. Or you go on further to the North, the old City of Vigan and the beautiful beaches of Pagudpud are good reasons to do so!
